The Wicked Writing Award

wicked

In 2016, we offered our first writing scholarship. It was called the Risky Writing Award and we asked you to write about a character who takes a risk, a risk you have taken or to take a risk in your writing.

In 2017, we came back with the Rickety Writing Award where entrants had to write about fixing something broken, succeeding when no one thought they could, or finding the value in the imperfect.

In 2018, “something wicked this way comes.” They say everyone has a dark side. They say every story has a villain. They say fear is the most potent emotion.

Prize: A full scholarship to attend any of our four I.C.E. Camps awarded to one elementary, one middle and one high school aged entrant (depending on applications)

Prompt: Write anything centered around the theme “wicked” (not the play. Please, no fan fiction). The piece can be a poem, short story, creative non-fiction, play, screenplay, flash fiction, etc. The piece does not need to be evil or scary (though it could…) but it should address the idea in some way.

How to Apply: Fill out a normal camp application and check the box that says “Wicked Writing Award Entry” and attach your themed piece of writing.

Deadline: April 1st (no foolin’)
