I.C.E.’s hot neighbor to the north has their application up. It’s paper for now, but an online version is in the works too. If you’re looking for a camp in East Pasco, this is the one for you!
Imaginative Creative Explorers: that’s the name the first group of campers came up with 17 years ago when TBAWP’s youth programs began.
I.C.E. is a unique-to-Tampa camp. There may be other Creative Writing camps, but our model is wholly original (no really, we’ve been to conferences! We’re one-of-a-kind.) I.C.E. is open to 8-16 year olds (rising third graders to rising juniors). It is our mission to provide camps that are fun, offer new experiences and present opportunities to build new friendships. I.C.E. Writers’ Camp was created to provide an environment in which writers feel safe to explore their abilities and receive feedback on the writing process from their peers and Tampa Bay Area Writing Project Consultants. Please note that this is not a remedial camp; rather it is fast-paced and vigorous with lessons that are in-depth and challenging.
Each session is two weeks long, Monday-Friday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Tuition is $400. Every camper will receive a t-shirt, a copy of the anthology, and a renewed love of writing.
TBAWP Youth Progams will have a booth at the “Family Friendly Summer Camp Expo” hosted by Florida Hospital Center Ice Facility on April 8th. Stop by and see us for more information about our many camp offering and check out all the other great camps in the area!

We are excited to announce the following camp dates:
June 5-16th: Corbett Prep
June 5-16th: Trinity Elementary
June 19-30th: Shorecrest Prep
We are still working on securing dates and sites for possible camps in South Tampa and the Brandon/Valrico Area.
In an effort to expand our offerings and reach, TBAWP Youth Programs is proud to introduce TWO new camps this year.
W.I.N.D. – Writer’s In Need of Direction is a camp for “kids” too old for I.C.E. and ready to just write… and get feedback of course. This is where writers meet other writers, give and receive feedback, and learn together. Held at USF on Tuesday and Thursday nights all summer long, this college-style workshop is for 16-25 year olds. Apply Here.
W.A.T.E.R. – Writers And Teachers Engaged in Revision will be held at USF during the day. Unlike I.C.E. and F.I.R.E., these camps will be only one week long (though, we’ll have two sessions) and will be held at USF at the same time as TBAWP’s Summer Institute for teachers. Every year will have a different theme. In the morning, students will work on craft with facilitators, but in the afternoon they’ll get one-on-one feedback and revision help from the area’s best writing teachers. Open to Middle and High schoolers, this year’s theme is Digital Storytelling. Apply Here.
